Greater Noida may allow taller buildings

The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has proposed to amend its building bylaws in order to allow taller buildings in the city, among other changes.

The proposal was mooted in a board meeting of GNIDA, held earlier this month, officials said on Friday.

The Authority has now sought objections and suggestions for the proposed modifications from the public, after which it will seek approval from the UP government.

The proposal also includes amendments in density of residential units in group housing plots, height of buildings in recreational green plots and allowing purchasable floor area ratio (FAR) for plots falling along Metro corridors up to 1km.

According to the officials, once the approvals for the amendments are in place, allottees of recreational green plots will be able to construct buildings taller than the currently allowed 24 metres.

The amendments in building bylaws have also proposed that additional proportionate residential units be allowed on purchasable FAR for group housing plots. "We will allow allottees to purchase additional FAR only along two major roads where the proposed Metro track is to traverse," said a senior GNIDA official.
